The Sivananda Yoga Advanced Teachers’ Training Course at our Kerala Dhanwantari Ashram, is based on the ancient gurukula system of study in which teacher and student live together. Designed for certified Sivananda Yoga Teachers, this powerful and transformative four-week course takes the student to a more profound level of spiritual knowledge. It provides an ideal training for expanding and deepening personal spiritual practice and advancing on the spiritual path. If students are active teachers, it is a natural step to take to broaden the scope of teaching practice. The student experiences a heightened sense of well-being and confidence through intensive yoga practice and a disciplined study of raja yoga and vedanta. Individual guidance and yogic self-discipline are important aspects of the course.
CURRICULUM includes theory and practice
- Asanas (advanced)
- Pranayama and kriyas (advanced)
- Vedanta — daily lectures on advaita vedanta
- Raja Yoga — in-depth study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
- Bhakti Yoga — the 9 types of bhakti; the 5 attitudes of devotion
- Karma Yoga
- Sanskrit — introduction
- Kirtan
- Anatomy and Physiology — the endocrine and nervous systems
- Diet and Ayurveda — the energetics of food
- Satsang
A high degree of self-motivation is required for all aspects of the course. To ensure the success of the programme, participants are required to attend all spiritual activities, satsangs, lectures and asana classes.
