Manjushree Yoga Vidyalaya
Wisdom rooted in tradition, practiced for modern life
Mysuru, Karnataka, India
Founded in 2024, Manjushree Yoga Vidyalaya (MYV) is a Yoga institute rooted in the soil of Mysuru,
the very city where the modern Ashtanga Yoga tradition took root and flourished. MYV is dedicated
to sharing Yoga in its purest, most authentic form, exactly as it has been passed down through
generations, following the age-old guru-shishya parampara where knowledge is transmitted directly,
with care, discipline, and personal attention. MYV offers instruction in Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa,
Pranayama, and Yoga Therapy, taught the traditional Indian way: not merely as a sequence of
postures, but as a complete science of life.
Further strengthening its institutional credibility, MYV is registered under MSME UDYAM,
Government of India. UDYAM Registration No: UDYAM-KR-22-0076781.
Founder
MYV was founded by Sumith B N, who studied Traditional Ashtanga Yoga directly under Sharath Jois,
grandson of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in the unbroken parampara of T. Krishnamacharya — a lineage
regarded as one of the most authentic living traditions of Yoga in India today. Sumith holds an MSc in
Yoga from SVYASA University, Bengaluru, where he specialized in the Integrated Approach of Yoga
Therapy for various ailments — knowledge he now applies through dedicated Yoga Therapy classes
at MYV. With 6 years of teaching experience and students from over 15 countries, Sumith brings this
depth of traditional training and lineage to every class at MYV, teaching with the same discipline and
devotion in which he himself was taught.
Our Mission
Guided by Sumith’s philosophy, MYV’s mission extends beyond the physical practice. The institute is
committed to weaving this philosophy into both practice and daily life, guiding students toward
mental peace, clarity, and holistic well-being, in the way Yoga was always meant to be learnt and
lived: not just on the mat, but off it. MYV is dedicated to making this authentic, time-tested
knowledge accessible to the local community, exactly as it was intended before the world knew it.
Offerings
MYV’s curriculum spans 200-hour and 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs (IYA certification in
progress), along with short-term courses in Pranayama, Mudra, Pregnancy Yoga (Garbhasanskar),
Face Yoga, and Mantra Chanting workshops. Residential courses and retreats are part of the
institute’s growing offerings.
