In 1958 Vethathiri Maharishi founded the World Community Service Centre (WCSC), a non-profit registered society with a view to work towards World Peace through individual peace. As of today, about 400 Trusts and about 2300 Centres/ Sub Centres have been registered and affiliated to WCSC in India, and lakhs of people have benefited physically, mentally, socially and spiritually from the teachings and practices. From 1972 to 1993, he traveled abroad annually, lecturing and teaching extensively in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and U.S.A.

Hence, peace must emanate from individuals, then permeate to the family, and then to the society at large. Ultimately world peace will blossom. The practice and teachings of the W.C.S.C. are made so as to combine and integrate these three aims.
For sensory enjoyments; proper training alone can curb the animalistic tendencies of aggression and selfishness. The human capacity to share the feelings of one’s fellow beings and be helpful to all is not developed due to lack of sufficient training. A change in the world society cannot be brought about through political will, economic reforms or religious faith. The spiritual path and outlook is a basic requirement in order to bring about a change in the behavior of mankind. One should choose a path to realize the Truth.
The W.C.S.C. is the vehicle to teach the psychic and physical practices synthesized by Vethathiri Maharishi to achieve realization through introspection, purification and meditation. More detailed explanation of these is in the ensuing sections of this booklet. Anyone who dedicates his will and sets aside some time on a daily basis can maintain good health, happiness, prosperity and peace to the maximum possible extent. The individual’s peace brings harmony within the family, among relatives, friends and in the workplace. One can live a virtuous life of morality, duty and charity, without conflicts. This will lead to peace in society and even the whole world.
The human being is a wonderful species, evolved through millions of forms and intrinsically endowed with tremendous qualities and potentials. The physical body is fantastically sophisticated, with the capability of a vast spectrum of though and action. But at the same time, within each of us the characters of the past violent deeds done by animals are also accumulated and preserved intact. Every one of us has developed undue attachments to material wealth, fame, power and desire.

To teach philosophy of Nature and initiate practical and easy methods of attaining Self Realisation to those who deserve and thereby spread altruism all over the world.
To make people understand that they must unite for purposes of solving common problems such as unemployment, imparting spiritual education to all children, clearing of slums and improving sanitation and to educate the people about the necessity of Co-operative Societies for production and distribution of essential requisites of life, etc.,
Policy
It is the policy of WCSC to work for and achieve all its objects and ideals by all peaceful and legitimate means and to spread its objects and ideals amongst the people of India and other nations of the World without transgressing the limits of Freedom of speech, Freedom of thought, Freedom of action and Freedom of opinion, as conferred by the Constitutions of those nations.
This organisation will be a non-religious and non-political Organization.
Activities of WCSC
WCSC is a multi-faceted organisation that aims at inner transformation of the individual on all fronts – body, mind and soul; spreading and percolating through stages finally encompassing the whole world. A multilayered transformation – individual, family, society and world is one of the major objectives of WCSC.
The Centres/sub centres and Trusts affiliated to WCSC conduct Simplified Kundalini Yoga (SKY) classes and workshops that cover physical exercises, meditation and introspection among others. They also conduct specialised knowledge sharing programs e.g. Yoga for Youth Empowerment for youngsters of 14 years of age and above, Yoga for Women Empowerment etc.
Women Empowerment and Gender equality are given special emphasis in all the programs and courses. Yoga for Women Empowerment is one such specific program. WISE Trust was formed to exclusively focus on Women and their betterment. Village Service Programs also focuses on developing the skills of Women, Yoga for Human Excellence etc.
It conducts Simplified Physical Exercises for physical health, Meditation for mental health, KayaKalpa Yoga, an ancient Holistic health and anti-ageing technique and Introspection Programs.
To impart holistic Yoga education, Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga was started in the year 2017 with world class facilities and faculties. Teaching the philosophy of Nature and initiating practical and easy methods of attaining Self Realization and thereby spread humanitarian philosophies across the world is an integral part of the teachings at all levels.
“Village Service Projects (VSPs)” reflects the ideology of founder Shri Vethathiri Maharishi for development of rural areas by promoting preventive health care, counselling, sanitation, education, empowering women, enhancing vocational skills for rural children, conducting alcohol/drugs de-addiction camp and environment awareness.
Yoga for Youth Empowerment program benefits youth from practices of SKY. Students Camp & Adolescent Camps are conducted in addition to Health camps.
WCSC, VISION Academy has tied with several Universities to provide education, counselling, guidance, assistance to the aspirants who are keen to study and obtain higher education by getting the admission in various certificate, Diploma, Graduate and Post Graduate, M.Phil and Ph.D courses.
Department for R&D is instrumental in conducting research projects with Universities and most these have been published in reputed national and international journals.
Anboli is monthly magazine published by WCSC and has been a major communication channel for propagating the work of the Organisation for the last 40 years.
MoU were signed with Bharathiyar University, Avinashilingham University, Bharathidhasan University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University, Tamil University, University of Madras and Periyar University and courses are being offered by them.
