YogaVahini teaches yoga in the tradition of Sri T Krishnamacharya, and his son Sri TKV Desikachar, specialising in offering personalised yoga classes. Each student is taught one-on-one, adapting the tools and practices according to their specific needs and abilities and changed as per their changing needs. Yoga Therapy is based on breathing and simple asana and other tools of yoga, integrating appropriate diet and life style modification.
Daily yoga practice is an integral part of training for the instructors, teachers and therapists at YogaVahini where each student is working with a personal teacher/ mentor to continue and progress with their personal yoga practice.
More recently (2016) we founded YogaVahini Foundation as a Public Charitable Trust dedicated to spreading the teachings of Yoga and making Yoga accessible to people from all sections of the population.
Yoga Vahini Foundation endeavours:
- To make yoga therapy an integral part of main stream health care;
- To introduce yoga as part of the curriculum in all streams of education;
- To make yoga an enabler for mindful living and conscious action for the community.
- To take Yoga to rural and other communities who may otherwise not have access to the refined aspects of Yoga.
- To conduct research (qualitative and quantitative) to establish the role of yoga in preventive care and healing, thereby making yoga teaching a credible and respectable profession.
